SEK Atlántico Authorized for the IB Middle Years Programme

The IB has recently granted SEK International School Atlántico, Pontevedra (Spain) authorization for the Middle Years Programme, for students aged 11 to 16. SEK Atlántico already offers the IB Primary Years Programme, and it is expected to be granted authorization for the Diploma Programme in the coming months.

Research strongly indicates that the MYP develops students to be independent learners, critical thinkers and active citizens, and show a greater awareness of global issues, greater interest in understanding other cultures and higher community engagement than non-MYP students following British or other international curricula.

Comparative studies also show that MYP students average significantly higher scores than non-MYP students in International Student Assessments, such as PISA, for mathematics, reading and writing.

SEK Atlántico offers quality education to students 0 to 18.

SEK International Schools is an international learning community, established in 1892, offering quality day and residential education to Spain 6,000 students in Spain, France, Ireland and Qatar.
